How to install Smart STB on Smart TV

Installing Smart STB on Smart TV comes down to two parts: getting the app onto the device, then signing in with your IPTV details. Samsung and LG TVs install native apps from their own on-TV stores. Smart STB emulates a MAG box, so it signs in with a portal URL and its own MAC address rather than an Xtream or M3U login.

This guide covers both steps for Smart TV, using an OTTV subscription as the example. You'll sign in with a portal URL and the device's MAC address, just like a MAG box.

Install method: Install from your TV's app store.

Step 1: get Smart STB onto your Smart TV

  1. 1

    Open your TV's app store

On your Smart TV, open the Samsung Apps store (Tizen) or the LG Content Store (webOS).

  2. 2

    Search for Smart STB

Search for Smart STB and install it directly on the TV.

  3. 3

    Open Smart STB

Launch Smart STB from your TV's apps row.

Step 2: sign in with your subscription

  1. 4

    Enter the portal URL

Smart STB signs in like a MAG box: open its settings and enter the portal (Stalker) URL from OTTV.

  2. 5

    Share your MAC address

Smart STB shows a device MAC address. Your provider may need to whitelist it before the portal will connect.

  3. 6

    Reload the portal

Save and reload; your channels and guide appear once the MAC is authorised.

Don't have login details yet? An OTTV free trial gives you a working Xtream Codes and M3U login to test on your Smart TV before you commit. See the Set up IPTV on Smart TV guide or the Smart STB full guide for more detail.

How Smart STB connects

Frequently asked.

Is Smart STB free on Smart TV?
The Smart STB app is free to install on Smart TV. You still need an active IPTV subscription to sign in and watch — a few players also charge a one-time fee to unlock extras like recording.
Which login details do I need for Smart STB?
Smart STB connects like a MAG box, using a portal (Stalker) URL and the device's MAC address rather than an Xtream or M3U login.
Will the TV guide work in Smart STB on Smart TV?
Yes — once your playlist loads, Smart STB fills in the EPG for channels your subscription provides guide data for. A blank guide is usually the EPG source or a player setting rather than the Smart TV itself.
