How to use your Xtream Codes login.

If OTTV gave you a server URL, a username, and a password rather than a single playlist link, that is an Xtream Codes login. It is the format most IPTV apps prefer, because it pulls your channels, your sorted movies and series, and the TV guide through one tidy connection. This guide shows you exactly where to find your three fields, how to enter them in IPTV Smarters and TiviMate, and how to fix the handful of things that cause a rejected login.

At a glance

What Xtream Codes is
A login made of three fields: server URL, username, password.
Best for
Sorted movies and series, and a TV guide that loads on its own.
Works in
IPTV Smarters, TiviMate, and most modern IPTV apps.
What you need
Your three OTTV login fields from the welcome email.

Want the concept rather than the steps? The M3U vs Xtream Codes comparison explains how the two connection types differ and when to pick each.

The three fields you are looking for.

An Xtream Codes login is always the same three parts. In your OTTV welcome email they look like this:

  • Server URL. Sometimes labelled host, portal, or DNS. It starts with http:// or https:// and often ends with a port, for example :8080. Enter it exactly, including the port.
  • Username. A short string of letters and numbers, unique to your account.
  • Password. Another short string. Case-sensitive, so copy it rather than retype it.

If your email only shows a long M3U URL and no separate fields, the credentials are hidden inside that link. You can still ask support for the Xtream Codes form, or see how the two relate with the M3U to Xtream Codes converter.

Enter Xtream Codes in IPTV Smarters.

  1. Open IPTV Smarters and accept the disclaimer.
  2. Choose Login with Xtream Codes API.
  3. Give the playlist any name you like, such as OTTV.
  4. Paste the server URL, username, and password from your welcome email into the matching boxes.
  5. Tap Add User.

The channel list loads within a minute, with movies and series on their own tabs. For the full device walkthrough see how to use IPTV Smarters.

Enter Xtream Codes in TiviMate.

  1. Open TiviMate and choose Add playlist.
  2. Select Xtream Codes rather than M3U playlist.
  3. Enter the server URL, then the username and password on the next screen.
  4. Confirm, and let TiviMate download the channel list.

On TiviMate Premium the full TV guide downloads automatically from the same login. For the complete setup see how to use TiviMate. On a Firestick specifically, the Firestick setup guide covers installing the app first.

When an Xtream Codes login is rejected.

A rejected login is nearly always one of these, in order of how often it happens:

A typo in one of the three fields.
Usernames and passwords are case-sensitive and easy to mistype. Copy and paste each field straight from the email rather than typing, and watch for a trailing space at the end.
The server URL is missing its port or protocol.
The URL needs the http:// or https:// at the front and the port number (such as :8080) at the end if one was provided. Leaving either off is the second most common cause.
You are over your plan's device limit.
Your OTTV plan allows a set number of simultaneous streams (1, 2, or 3). If other devices are already streaming, a new login can be refused. Close a stream elsewhere and try again.
Your ISP is blocking the server.
If the app says the server is unreachable rather than that the credentials are wrong, test on a phone hotspot. If it works there, the block is on your home connection, not your login.

Still stuck after all four? Work through the login details not working guide, which goes deeper on each cause.

Frequently asked

What are Xtream Codes?
Xtream Codes is a login format for IPTV apps. Instead of one long playlist link, you enter three separate fields: a server URL (sometimes called the host or portal), a username, and a password. The app uses those to pull your channels, movies, series, and TV guide through an API, which is why the guide and sorted VOD usually appear automatically.
Where do I find my OTTV Xtream Codes details?
They are in your OTTV welcome email. Look for a server or host URL (it starts with http and often ends in a port number like :8080), a username, and a password. If your email only shows an M3U link, message support and ask for the Xtream Codes form; the same subscription works either way.
What is the difference between Xtream Codes and an M3U URL?
They are two ways into the same subscription. An M3U URL is a single link that already contains your credentials, which is simplest for players like VLC. Xtream Codes keeps the server, username, and password as separate fields, which most apps prefer because it gives sorted VOD categories and an automatic guide. Our M3U vs Xtream Codes comparison covers this in full.
How do I enter Xtream Codes in IPTV Smarters?
Open IPTV Smarters, choose Login with Xtream Codes API, give the playlist any name, then paste the server URL, username, and password from your OTTV email. Tap Add User and the channel list loads within a minute.
How do I enter Xtream Codes in TiviMate?
TiviMate calls it Xtream Codes when you add a playlist. Choose Add playlist, then Xtream Codes, and enter the server URL, username, and password. TiviMate then downloads the channel list and, on the premium version, the full guide.
My Xtream Codes login is rejected. What is wrong?
Almost always a typo or a formatting slip. Check the server URL includes http:// or https:// and the port number if one was given, confirm the username and password have no stray spaces (copy-paste rather than type), and make sure you are not over your plan's device limit. If it still fails, work through the login details not working guide.
Can I switch from an M3U link to Xtream Codes later?
Yes. The subscription is the same underneath, so you can remove the M3U playlist in your app and add a new one using the Xtream Codes fields at any time. Nothing changes on your account.
Is a VPN needed to use Xtream Codes?
Not for OTTV to work. If your app reports the server is unreachable, test on a phone hotspot to rule out an ISP block rather than assuming a VPN is required. Channel availability can vary by region and package regardless.

Prefer a single link instead? See the M3U playlist guide. Still stuck? Message support from the contact page.
