How to install iMPlayer on Mac

Installing iMPlayer on Mac comes down to two parts: getting the app onto the device, then signing in with your IPTV details. On a Mac you download the official desktop build. iMPlayer is one of the most cross-platform players, running on almost every device and syncing your playlist across them once it's set up.

This guide covers both steps for Mac, using an OTTV subscription as the example. You'll sign in with an Xtream Codes login — a server URL, username and password.

Install method: Download the desktop app.

Step 1: get iMPlayer onto your Mac

  1. 1

    Download the Mac build

On your Mac, go to the official iMPlayer website and download the desktop version for your system.

  2. 2

    Run the installer

Open the downloaded file and follow the prompts to install iMPlayer.

  3. 3

    Launch iMPlayer

Open iMPlayer from your applications once the install finishes.

Step 2: sign in with your subscription

  1. 4

    Choose an Xtream Codes login

In iMPlayer, choose to add a playlist or user and pick the "Xtream Codes" / "Login with Xtream Codes API" option.

  2. 5

    Enter your OTTV details

Type the server URL, username and password from your OTTV welcome email exactly as shown, then give the playlist a name you'll recognise.

  3. 6

    Let it load

Save and let iMPlayer download your channels, categories and TV guide. The first load can take a minute.

Don't have login details yet? An OTTV free trial gives you a working Xtream Codes and M3U login to test on your Mac before you commit. See the Set up IPTV on Mac guide or the iMPlayer full guide for more detail.

How iMPlayer connects

Runs on

Frequently asked.

Is iMPlayer free on Mac?
The iMPlayer app is free to install on Mac. You still need an active IPTV subscription to sign in and watch — a few players also charge a one-time fee to unlock extras like recording.
Which login details do I need for iMPlayer?
iMPlayer signs in with an Xtream Codes login — a server URL, username and password. You can also load a full M3U URL if you prefer. OTTV sends both in your welcome email.
Will the TV guide work in iMPlayer on Mac?
Yes — once your playlist loads, iMPlayer fills in the EPG for channels your subscription provides guide data for. A blank guide is usually the EPG source or a player setting rather than the Mac itself.
