How to Install IPTV on LG Smart TV.

InstallationBeginner5 min read

To install IPTV on an LG Smart TV, open the LG Content Store on the TV, search for an IPTV player such as "IPTV Smarters Player" or "IBO Player", install it, then enter your OTTV Xtream Codes or M3U details. LG TVs run webOS, so you install apps from the built-in store instead of sideloading. Setup takes only a few minutes.

What you need before starting

  • An LG Smart TV running webOS (2016 or newer) connected to the internet
  • Your OTTV login (Xtream Codes username, password, server URL, or an M3U URL)
  • An LG account signed in to access the LG Content Store

Step-by-step instructions

01·Step 1

Open the LG Content Store

Press Home on your Magic Remote, then select the LG Content Store icon. Sign in with your LG account if prompted.

02·Step 2

Search for an IPTV player

Open search and type "IPTV Smarters Player". If it is unavailable in your region, search for "IBO Player" or "Smart IPTV", which are commonly available on webOS.

03·Step 3

Install and launch the app

Select the app and choose Install, then open it. If the app shows a MAC address or device key on first launch, write it down in case activation is required.

04·Step 4

Enter your OTTV login

Pick "Login with Xtream Codes API" and type the username, password, and server URL from your welcome email. For M3U-only players, paste the full M3U URL.

05·Step 5

Load and test channels

Wait for the channel list and guide to load, then open a live channel to confirm it plays. First load usually takes under a minute.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Trying to sideload an APK — LG webOS only installs apps from the LG Content Store.
  • Forgetting to register the TV's MAC address on players that require it, leaving the channel list empty.
  • Mistyping the server URL or leaving out the port number, which blocks the login.

Troubleshooting

The IPTV app is missing from the LG Content Store
Availability depends on your region and webOS version. Try IBO Player or Smart IPTV as an alternative, or use an external Firestick or Android box.
Channels load but keep buffering
Connect the TV by Ethernet, or move the router closer. webOS Wi-Fi performance varies by model, so a wired link is the most reliable fix.
App reports the playlist as inactive
Register the MAC address on the app's activation site, restart the app, and verify your OTTV login works on another device.

Frequently asked questions

Does every LG Smart TV support IPTV?
Most LG TVs from 2016 onward run webOS and support IPTV player apps. Older models without a compatible app can use an inexpensive Firestick or Android TV box instead.
Can I sideload IPTV apps on an LG TV?
No. LG webOS only installs apps from the official LG Content Store, so sideloading APKs is not possible the way it is on Firestick.
Which IPTV app works best on LG webOS?
IPTV Smarters Player is the simplest where available. IBO Player and Smart IPTV are solid alternatives that accept Xtream Codes and M3U logins.
Why does IPTV buffer on my LG TV?
Usually weak Wi-Fi. Use an Ethernet cable or move closer to the router. Peak-hour congestion on your internet line can also cause buffering.

Try it before you commit.
